Re: Grouchy-729773
Actually, I was talking about turning public libraries into digital and making them accessible via some type of electronic hand-held devises (free of charge) for downloading digitized books for reading or/and being read to via text-to-voice capability of the device.

Ludmila - your comment about "the libraries" misses the point. With a population that for years, maybe decades has been fearful of "the intelligentsia" - witness the jokes about the country bumpkin outsmarting the city slicker - most of us fit into a basic world wide fear / resentment of "eggheads." Then add physical laziness - a library is always located "there" - not "here." In other words I have to physically go "there" when it's much easier to stay "here." And I certainly don't want to expose my ignorance/stupidity to the "brains" using a library. Then add mental laziness - libraries cannot overturn those problems. It MIGHT work if the libraries were immediately accessible from a computer in the home - but mental laziness would still be the operating system for the average person in this country - and around the world - I'm afraid. Besides, it's much more fun to use your computer to safely insult and threaten "others" - those not of your race, background, etc. And the other fun use of a home computer is to encourage personal growth - - - - -No, as a nation we are NOT interested in personal growth - YOU should view the world as I do - YOU are the wrong one - YOU need to change. I'm gonna watch porn rather than physically go to a library or do anything requiring thinking - - - - - - -. Unfortunately I have no viable suggestions to ameliorate these problems. I'm 73 years old and have seen this problem for all of that time. Hence my nickname - Grouchy
